Do all rooms have a balcony?
Only our River View Double Rooms with Balcony and Full View have a balcony. There are also two suites, Panoramic and Terrace, with garden and terrace, respectively.
How much is half board?
Octant Douro does not have a half-board option. However, you can have all your meals at the hotel.
Is breakfast included?
Breakfast is included in all rates.
What is the payment method?
For reservations that require prepayment, this can be done via credit card through the Redunicre platform, or by bank transfer. Directly at the hotel it is possible to make payments by Visa, MasterCard, American Express and cash.
What is included in the rate?
In addition to accommodation, all rates include breakfast, access to the Spa Circuit (indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and gym) and outdoor pools.
Can children use the pool?
The indoor pool can be used by children. Between the months of October and May, this use is limited to the hours of 9 am to 4 pm. As for the outdoor pools, Piscina Rava (next to the restaurant) is for adults only, and the Terrace pool is free to use, without any time limitation.
How far are they from Porto?
The Octant Douro is located about 43 km from the city of Porto, which is equivalent to a journey of approximately 45 min.
What is the nearest city?
Castelo de Paiva is the closest town to the hotel, at a distance of 15 min (by car), for a total of 12 km.
How do boat tours work?
Boat trips can be taken daily and at any time, departing from our pier. They are private and can last for 1 h or 2 h, for an additional fee.
What is the difference between the two types of fare: Free and Smart?
Both rates are exclusive to our website. The Free rate has free cancellation up to 48 hours before the arrival date (in low season) or 14 days before arrival (in high season). Payment will be made at the hotel and the reservation will be guaranteed by credit card. The Smart rate has a 10 % discount on the Free rate and is non-refundable. Payment of the total amount is made at the time of booking, and in case of cancellation, it will not be refunded. The stay can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before the arrival date (in low season) or 14 days before arrival (in high season).
What can I do nearby?
In addition to the activities you can do at the hotel, we recommend visiting Arouca, at a distance of 30 / 40 min, where you can visit Paiva Walkways, the Convento, Serra da Freita or the entire Geopark area. You can also visit the city of Porto, at a distance of 40 / 45 min. At about 1 h 40 you will also find the entire area of the Alto Douro wine region, where you can discover some of the most famous wine estates.
Can I go to the hotel by boat?
Yes. If you have your own boat, you can use this means to get to Octant Douro. You can also dock the boat at our pier without any additional cost.
Do you have charging stations for electric cars?
We have two charging stations for electric cars. One of them universal, and the second intended for Tesla-branded cars.
What is the maximum capacity of Deluxe Rooms (VM and VR)?
Given their dimensions, the maximum capacity of Deluxe rooms, mountain view or river view, is 3 people: 3 adults or 2 adults + 1 child. In both cases an extra bed is placed.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in can be done at any time from 15:00 and check-out until 12:00 .
Do you have a restaurant?
Yes, our Rava Restaurant is available daily for all guests from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm . We also have À Terra Bar & Canteen, available from 11 am to 10:30 pm , where we also serve meals.
Do you have a transfer service to and from the Airport?
Yes. Our transfer service works not only to the Airport, but also to other points in the city of Porto. For closer trips we also have a taxi service available. Both services are subject to an additional charge.
Are there restaurants close to the hotel?
In the nearest cities there are several typical restaurants that we recommend, with several options of dishes.
Does the reception work 24 hours?
The reception is open 24 hours a day.
How much is a late check-out?
Late check-out does not have any additional value. It is confirmed, subject to availability, on the day of departure.
Can I arrive at the hotel before 3pm?
You can arrive at the hotel at the most convenient time and enjoy our facilities right away. However, our team can only ensure that your room is ready at 3 pm.
Do you accept animals in your facilities?
Octant Douro is Pet Friendly, and for that reason we will be happy to accept your pet. This condition has an additional cost of € 35 per night/pet. As for circulation within the premises, it is prohibited in the restaurant and bar areas, spa, and outdoor swimming pools.
Can I pay for my stay directly at the hotel?
If you choose a flexible rate, with free cancellation, payment can be made directly at the hotel, using the method that is most convenient for you. If you opt for a non-refundable rate, payment for the full amount of your stay must be guaranteed prior to arrival.
What activities do you recommend doing outdoors for those traveling with children?
In the vicinity of the hotel there are two trails along the river, with a low/moderate degree of difficulty, which can be covered by adults and children. We also have Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle boards that can be used free of charge by all our guests. Boat trips are also an excellent option.
Do all rooms have a river view and a double bed?
Not. Our Deluxe Mountain View rooms, as the name implies, have mountain views and have two single beds. On request, and at no extra cost, it is possible to convert the two beds into a double bed.
Is it mandatory to wear a swimming cap in the indoor pool?
No, the use of a swimming cap is not mandatory in any of the pools.
Is smoking allowed in the room?
Smoking is prohibited in all closed areas of the hotel, including the rooms. The only exception is for rooms or suites with a balcony/terrace, where smoking is allowed in this outdoor area.
Are there any rooms adapted for guests with reduced mobility?
Octant Douro has a room adapted for guests with reduced mobility, equipped with all the necessary support conditions. The entire hotel is adapted once it is possible to make all accesses by ramp or elevator.
Do you have connecting rooms?
Octant Douro has 10 interconnecting rooms. The room adapted for guests with reduced mobility is also included in this list.
Does the hotel have a laundry service?
Yes. Laundry service is available to all guests for an additional fee.

The hotel has an outdoor car park, free of charge for all guests.

What type of room do you suggest for families of 4 or more?
For large families we suggest accommodation in any of our Suites. They are composed of a bedroom area, with a double bed, and a living room, equipped with a sofa bed and where it is still possible to add an extra bed or crib. We also suggest accommodation in connecting or adjoining rooms.
Can the pools be used by people who are not staying at the hotel?
For everyone's convenience and comfort, the use of our swimming pools is exclusively for guests.
Can I continue to use the facilities after check-out?
After checking out, you can stay at the hotel and use all our services, including the restaurant, bar and swimming pools.
How much is an extra bed? And from a crib?
The extra bed costs € 60 per night for adults and € 40 for children from 4 to 12 years old. The crib does not have any additional cost.
Can I enjoy my meals in the room?
Yes, we have a special Room Service menu available, with all meals that you can enjoy 24 hours a day. Breakfast can also be served in your room.
